INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER

High nitrogen loads in effluent waste streams may require special permitting and can become expensive if additional treatment needs to be done off site. Other technologies such as traditional denitrification and reverse osmosis may be too excessive and too expensive for the amount and frequency of treatment desired. The zeolite-anammox system is a versatile, space conserving, and economic alternative. This technology is also applicable to industries looking to recycle their water for potable reuse.

Zeolite-anammox can treat a variable range of ammonia loadings from a concentration of just a few milligrams per liter to several thousand milligrams per liter and can be modified to treat nitrate as well.

EXAMPLES OF INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT WITH ZEOLITE-ANAMMOX

Recycled Water Users

Industrial power plants use recycled water for their cooling towers. Algae is fertilized by ammonia & nitrate requiring expensive control chemicals. Zeolite-anammox removes ammonia from recycled water solving problem for pennies on the dollar.

Oil refineries have issues using recycled water because ammonia attacks bronze valves.

Manufacturers Discharging Ammonia

An on-site zeolite-anammox system is significantly cheaper than paying for treatment at municipal sewage plants.

Processes Releasing Ammonia to Groundwater

Using the zeolite-anammox to treat waste with high ammonia loadings can reduce groundwater contamination.

Mining & Quarrying

Explosives release ammonia to ground and surface waters; the zeolite-anammox system can treat contaminated water before it gets into the environment.
